Very interesting to see this. The Albert Hall mentioned here is the one that still stands in Peter Street, Manchester rather than the one in London. Joan Moss was a very good soprano from Derbyshire; Hazel Pullen was a fine contralto; Vincent Coates was a tenor of some note and James Calladine a fine bass singer. They all studied at the Northern School of Music which was situated on Oxford Road. Ernest Read came up from London to conduct these concerts, usually after only one rehearsal.
